Pemco: Printers and converters show high interest in SHM 1450 DR showcased at drupa 2008
Sheboygan, June 26, 2008 – Pemco, the specialist for folio-size sheeting, and a member of the Körber PaperLink Group, completed another successful show at drupa 2008 with their proven SHM 1450 DR (dual rotary) folio converting technology.
The SHM 1450 DR sheeter specification displayed was chosen for its popularity within the printing and converting industry, notably due to its high quality production and cost-competitive market position. During the show more than 250 product demonstrations and “on demand” custom runs were conducted for customers, to display this product line’s proven technology.
Many potential customers commented on the apparent stability and sturdy nature of the machine. In fact, it was left virtually unattended by the operator throughout the production of complete pallets, with the sheeter automatically coming to a halt at the exact sheet count. “The SHM product line is positioned to provide paper and carton board converters with a cost-competitive solution without sacrificing precision or performance,” said John Finlayson, European Sales Manager at Pemco International.
The Strachan Henshaw Machinery (SHM) product line was integrated into the Pemco family line of products in 2000. With sales exceeding 100 machines since the acquisition, Pemco has continued the SHM tradition of proven product reliability while implementing various improvements to the controls and operator interface, based on customer feedback.
And innovation continues. Rather than the vertically piled pallet traditionally associated with folio sheeters, a recent project involved the design of a horizontal ream discharge “gripper system” to count and collate reams of lightweight sandwich wrap, running eight rolls simultaneously. Developed for a leading chain, said Mr. Finlayson, “everytime you visit this chain, chances are your sandwich is protected by this wrap!”
For Pemco, the highlight of the show was the interest expressed in the SHM 1450 DR folio sheeter by printers and converters from countries throughout the world. “The objective of our drupa presence was to showcase the strength and depth of our SHM range of high precision folio-size sheeters. Success was evident in the exceptional number of high-potential customer leads,” commented John Finlayson. “Our goals for drupa were met and it should mean a very beneficial year for Pemco.”
